Live in three steps

No custom theme code for the core widget. You install the app, build an option set, and enable the block.

Install on your shop

Log in with your shop domain. Shopify handles OAuth. Smart Product Options Variants stores a shop-scoped session — not shopper accounts.

Build an option set

Add fields from scratch or a template. Set add-on prices, conditions, and which products, customers, or countries see the set.

Enable the theme block

Add Smart Product Options Variants to the product template (or turn on the app embed). Placement is above Add to cart; accent and labels are configurable.

What merchants get

Option sets, a Theme App Extension, and checkout add-on prices — plus templates, translations, and product assignment — configured per shop in Admin.

Custom option types

Text, dropdowns, radios, buttons, color and image swatches, file upload, date, range, and more. Required fields, help text, and column width are set per option.

Conditional fields

Show a gift message only when gift wrap is selected, or hide a field until another choice matches. Conditions stay inside the option set — no extra theme logic.

Theme App Extension

Product-page app block and an optional app embed. Scoped CSS, accent color, alignment, validation messages, and cart-edit labels. Add the block above Add to cart.

Paid add-ons at checkout

Priced choices can add an amount on the cart using a Shopify cart transform. Smart Product Options Variants does not take a separate payment — the extra is charged with the order.

Product assignment

Attach a set to selected products, matching tags, or every product. Limit visibility to logged-in customers, tagged customers, or selected countries.

Shopify Files for swatches

Image dropdowns and swatches use the merchant’s Shopify Files.Smart Product Options Variants stores the resulting URL, not a second media library.

Templates and translations

Start from engraving, gift wrap, add-ons, or swatches. Edit widget labels per locale so the storefront matches the language you sell in.

Shop-scoped and GDPR ready

Every table is tied to the installing shop. Mandatory compliance webhooks (data request, customer redact, shop redact) are implemented — not empty stubs.

How do I install Smart Product Options Variants?

Open Log in, enter the same .myshopify.com domain you use to install apps, and approve Smart Product Options Variants in Shopify. After OAuth you land in the embedded admin — not a separate merchant portal.

How do options appear on the product page?

Create an option set, assign products, then add the Smart Product Options Variants block to the product template (place it above Add to cart). You can also turn on the Smart Product Options Variants app embed. Do not enable both on the same template or fields will duplicate.

Do I need custom theme code?

No custom theme code is required for the core widget. You install the app, build option sets in Admin, and enable the theme block or app embed.

Where do customer choices go?

Selections and file uploads are submitted through Shopify’s cart as line item properties and stored on the Shopify order. Smart Product Options Variants does not keep a shopper profile or a copy of those answers in its own database.

How do paid add-on prices work?

When a buyer chooses a priced option, Smart Product Options Variants can add that amount at cart and checkout using a Shopify cart transform and a catalog add-on variant. The extra amount is charged with the product — not as a separate app invoice.

What option types can I add?

Text, textarea, number, email, phone, date, file upload, color picker, switches, range, dropdowns, radios, checkboxes, buttons, color and image swatches, plus static blocks such as headings, size charts, and tabs. Fields can be required, priced, and shown only when another field matches a condition.

Can I assign one set to many products?

Yes. Assign products by hand, by tag rules, or apply a set to all products. You can also limit a set to logged-in customers, tagged customers, or selected countries.

Do shoppers create an account with this app?

No. Smart Product Options Variants is a merchant tool. Shoppers use the options on your product page. They never log in to this app.

What happens if I uninstall?

Uninstall starts deletion of that shop’s sessions, option sets, assignments, and tenant row. Shopify’s shop/redact webhook runs the same purge if anything remains. Compliance audit rows (shop domain, topic, status — no customer body) are kept.
